The advanced steelmaking, rolling, and heat treatment processes developed by Baosteel have resulted in a series of ultra-high strength structural steel products. These products exhibit excellent low-temperature toughness, weldability, and cold formability in addition to their ultra-high strength. They also have stable and uniform performance, as well as good shape and surface quality. These products are suitable for use in various industries, such as the manufacturing of engineering machinery, crane, pump truck, and vehicle structures.
BS series ultra-high strength steel is produced by smelting killed steel in an oxygen converter and refining it outside the furnace. The resulting continuous casting billet is then reheated and rolled into coils using a controlled rolling and cooling process at the hot rolling plant. After this, the plate undergoes refining, straightening, and cutting. Based on the required performance, the appropriate heat treatment process is chosen, and the steel is delivered in its treated state.
