317L is an austenitic stainless steel which provides higher levels of chromium, nickel and molybdenum than other stainless steels, thus enhancing its corrosion resistance. The “L” in 317L signifies a lower carbon content compared to normal 317 steel, reducing the chances of sensitization and maintaining corrosion-resistant properties. Due to its superior resistance to corrosive substances and elevated temperatures it can be found in cookers and sterilizers.
